What a great opportunity for the church to step in and help these people and reach them meet their needs and give them the gospel.Let's talk about this and see how we can help either financially or materially..Anyone have any leftover Y2K food?In Christ,Doug Renz

I feel so bad that I didn't realize the extent of damage this storm has caused. What grievous footage I saw on the news today. May we all have the urgent and compassionate heart to help in any way we can. PRAY! If there's any other tangible, practical way you can help, do it!Here's some resources I found browsing the net:HOW TO HELP links updated 9/1American Red CrossHabitat for HumanitySalvation ArmyVictim ReliefSafe HarborNetwork for Good: Hurricane KatrinaI have been personally led to make a donation for one of the organizations listed above to help the victims of the hurricane. Pray about how you can help, that God would truly give you wisdom and discernment about how to meet the true need over there.

Here's some resources I found browsing the net:HOW TO HELPAmerican Red CrossHabitat for HumanitySalvation ArmyNetwork for Good: Hurricane KatrinaDoes anyone have a resource stating % of donations used for administrative or other versus putting the money directly to the need? I think probably all of these organizations are good but I do know administrative costs can vary greatly between organizations. Hope

This is great Yolanda and others.. I do think its important that we pray and also ask God if we are to give to help those in need. It would be great for you and others to keep the SI body posted on progress and steps in this disaster.

The only organization I know so far that's giving 100% of the donations towards helping the victims is Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa.Hurricane Katrina Relief EffortsIn response to the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa is extending aid to the communities directly affected by this tragedy. A team is currently on the way to address the immediate and future needs of the communities in the area.If you feel led to contribute to this relief endeavor please send your contributions to: (100% of your contribution will go directly to the relief.)Calvary Chapel of Costa MesaATTN: Hurricane Katrina3800 S.
