This book (actually a 29 page pamphlet) is absolutely outstanding! I am tempted to type it all out and post it on my website. It describes the baptism of the Holy Ghost upon many godly men to include: Roberts, Finney, Moody, Torrey, Chapman, Sunday, and Spurgeon. The first five in this list document the experiences in their own writing. Here is an excerpt by Evan Roberts: "For thirteen years, I had prayed for the Spirit...""At a certain meeting...I felt a living force coming into my bosom. This grew and grew, and I was almost bursting. My bosom was boiling. What boiled in me was that verse: 'God commending His love.' I fell on my knees with my arms over the seat in front of me; the tears and perspiration flowed freely. I thought blood was gushing forth." Certain friends approached to wipe his face. Meanwhile he was crying out. "O Lord, bend me! bend me!...As they sang I thought about the bending at the Judgement Day, and I was filled with compassion for those that would have to bend on that day, and I wept."Moody: "...I seldom refer to it; it was almost too sacred an experience to name.""Praying Hyde": As he sailed from America a friend handed him a sealed note which he later found said, "Are you filled with the Holy Spirit?" He was first angry, then troubled, then he sought God with all his heart until he was wonderfully filled.
