Halo

I am sure that all of us are familiar with the idea of a Halo. A halo is a ring that is placed above someone's head to denote that person is good. We see it all the time in movies, cartoons, etc. But, is it biblical? I have found no mention of halo's in the bible. So where did it come from? I have done some research on this and the closest thing I can find is Moses when he came from Mt. Sini and his face was radiantly glowing. I did find out that Buddhist's have used halo's in their art as early as the 1st Century.So, I present this to the folks here at SI. What is the halo? Where did it come from?

A halo, from what i've always understood, is the artists' depection of the "Glory of God" in a tangible way.
