Dear brothers and sisters,Below you will find an article on the subject of “evolution”. A good friend of mine wrote it as an essay for his study (bio-medical science). But before you start reading the article he wrote, I want to share a little bit of his testimony.My friend hasn’t been raised in a Christian home. His parents aren’t religious at all. He knew some facts about “the faith”, but that was it. Somehow, he did realize there was a God…and that was one thing that was pretty clear to him.A few years ago he met a Christian girl while taking driving lessons…she witnessed to him about the Lord, took him with her to Church and God took a hold of him. He as well began to really like that girl…and one day, when she started crying about the fact that he would go to hell if he didn’t repent and put his faith in Jesus, he realized that the gloves were off. She was the first person he met that was really walking the talk. He had gone out with a “Christian” girlfriend before he met this Christian girl, but she only went to Church on Sunday…that was it. Now he saw that not all Christians were hypocrites. At this point he began to ask questions, many questions. Slowly but surely he started to realize where he stood in his relationship towards God. He started to see what his future would be without God and what kind of certainty he could receive through Jesus Christ. One night…on a quiet moment, he prayed the “sinners prayer”. But he didn’t simply repeat the words, he MEANT it! From that moment on…everything changed naturally. The week before, he had gone to a disco (as he was used to do every week), but from that moment onward he didn’t care about that anymore. Shortly afterwards he got rid of all his copied CD’s. He as well stopped listening to a popular radio station in our country, simply because he didn’t desire to listen to that crap anymore. He desired to go to Church and to read his Bible. The toughest part was to share it with all of his friends and to explain what had happened to him and so on. He did however…and lost his popularity and many friends, but as he wrote to me: “from then onwards I just noticed that God is always with me en Jesus abides in me. I experience the guidance of the Holy Spirit in my life. I don’t want to do sinful things anymore and when I still do those things at times it hurts, because it hurts God and I can’t find pleasure in that and it gives me a deep sense of guilt. Now I know what it is to have certainty in life, to be supported and to receive help to make decisions. It’s not always easy, but what I got in return is incomparable. I never want to go back…and I never even gave that a single thought. When looking back I see what I have had to give up, but I hardly noticed that. Things of this earth pass away anyway and most of them have already lost their value to me. I am happy!”This friend of mine (he’s a Christian for about 4 years now) wrote the following article.Evolution is a religionRoy KloetWhen I sat down in my chair, the thought suddenly popped into my mind: “where does this chair come from?” As a creationist, I was sure someone made it. Nevertheless I started to doubt: “Perhaps the chair came on earth after million years of evolution. After all it’s easier for an office chair to develop like this, than for a complex human being.”A little backgroundIn science people agree that monkeys are our ancestors. Billion years ago there was a big bang. After this – and a lot of waiting – organic molecules developed in the sea. They combined with each other and formed the first living thing. The thing got arms and legs and, after it evolved for millions of years, the first human being was ‘born’. This, in short, is the story Charles Darwin came up with the 24th of November 1859. Darwin combined knowledge from Malthus, Lyell and Wallace to form his “survival of the fittest-theory”. Especially Wallace, who stated that there’s spontaneous and unlimited variation in offspring, influenced Darwin’s theory. It can be questioned how scientific this statement about unlimited variation is, as it’s certainly not founded on observations.Around the 18th century, people believed that God created the world exactly the way it was by then. As a result, many people rejected Darwin’s theory. Now two different groups came into being. The first group defended the – untenable – point of view that there was no variation at all. The second group ran on in opposite direction, and believed species also originate from each other.In fact, Darwin wasn’t the inventor of this evolution idea. Lacantius, a Greek philosopher, in 260-330 AC already thought that species have a common ancestor. And in the year Darwin was born, 1809, Lamarck introduced the evolution principle. People never took these theories serious, so the question then turns: “Why did Darwin break through?”Four arguments why Darwin’s theory had successFirstly, Darwin’s observations didn’t fit the prevailing opinion that nature can’t change at all. He found that Galapagos’ finches had evolved a variety of beaks. Indeed, Darin discovered a variation mechanism in nature and proved that species are able to adapt. Therefore, Darwin’s opponents couldn’t hold their standpoint.Secondly, Darwin’s findings gave people the opportunity to rebel against the church. Till Darwin, people could only think that there wasn’t a God. But Darwin provided grounds for atheism. This way the Church lost her grip on the society. For this, political movements like Marxism, Liberalism and National Socialism embraced the evolution theory. A third explanation is that Darwin publicized his “origin of species” just after the period of Romanticism, when Realism ruled people’s thinking. As a result, ideas shifted from “spiritual and emotional” to “matter and sense”. The evolution theory, that handles humanity as animal instead of spiritual, conformed to this Realism. And fourthly – and this you shouldn’t underestimate – for the first time people had an argument for free sex. “After all, humans are merely animals”, people thought.These explanations show the reason for the theories’ success. It brought new biological insight, and helped to defend atheistic, political, psychological and sexual points of view. As a result it embedded itself deeply in our society. Now, 150 years later, the discussion about evolution is history. People consider evolution as the only serious explanation for the origin of life. But how serious is this explanation?How serious is the evolution theory?Evolutionists defend the theory with evidence for variation within a species. What they overlook is the difference between variation and evolution. When existing genes inactivate or disappear we call this variation. In evolution, new genes appear to form a more complex animal. We can see variation all around us, naturally and in breeding programs. But no researcher ever proved that new genes come into existence. Besides what is stated above, researchers can’t test the evolution principle. And that makes the theory unscientific. No one has ever seen a fish that changes into a human. “That’s because it takes millions of years”, the evolutionist would say. This can’t be tested, and therefore shows that evolution isn’t scientific.Despite this lack of evidence, people hold Darwin’s theory for truth. A reason for this is that we just don’t know better anymore. Almost every school teaches evolution as a scientific truth. A second reason is that we can easily understand evolutions’ basic principles. We can imagine a monkey that changes into a human being and like to see a computer-animated morphing. Another reason is that the western society thrives. We have cars, we’ve landed on the moon, we think we’re superior to aboriginals! Because of the technical revolution, we imagine ourselves evolving. Nevertheless, our genes are the same and we can still breed with aboriginals. Third reason is that if we believe in evolution, this brings us freedom. “I’m just a pile of carbohydrates. There isn’t a real moral, good or bad, responsibility or whatsoever. I’m free.”Once again the world is divided in two groups, pro and contra evolution. But, in the contrary to 150 years ago, now the evolutionists’ vision dominates. And this domination influences the whole society. It affects our attitude to life-after-death, abortion, career and so on. When you see the consequences of this theory, you perhaps realize it’s more than theory: it’s a religion. And the purpose of each religion is to dominate the life of its followers. It enables someone to get what he wants in all aspects of his life. Followers of the evolution religion get their personal freedom, at the – expensive – cost of moral values. When the above thought crossed my mind, I almost fell from my chair. “Or did the chair evolve and threw me out. Perhaps by sitting on it I impaired its personal freedom”, I stumbled. But before I completely snapped, I saw the small label at the seat’s back: “Made in Taiwan”.
