Avain Flu Virus

sermonindex Oct 20, 2005

I read this and it startled me abit, its amazing at what lengths they are going and the seriousness of this virus in the eyes of the scientists:The strain of flu that has health experts worried emerged as an avian flu that killed thousands of chickens and six people in Hong Kong in 1997. In response, Hong Kong destroyed all of its chickens - 1.5 million of them. That stopped the outbreak, but the strain called H5N1 -continued.The seriousness of these things reminds me of the passage in saint matthew 24:7 - "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places."

Bird flu is very serious and will kill millions of people around the globe. Its one of many pay backs for human beings breaking God's command in Genesis 1:29. "Every seedbearing plant shall be yours for food." When humans became scavengers/hunters and then began animal husbandry, they set themselve up for this kind of thing. Also, eating meat causes as much cancer as cigarette smoking in the world. And these are just the tip of the evil iceberg we made in breaking this command. (PS. in evolutionary theory the first humans, Australeopithicus afarensis, were herbivores. This matches with Genesis.)Bubbaguy

Your use of God's Word is pretty scarey, Bubba. Have you ever read the dietary laws of the Old Testament? There is quite a bit of discussion concerning what kinds of meat were allowed. This is a fine example of why we should NEVER "proof text".And your "scientific" info is almost as shakey as your handling of the Bible.I love ya bro... but sometimes you make me shake my head and wonder.Krispy

This is commical(well not really)...To add another thought to this, apparently 60 odd people have died from this killer disease.Probably more people are killed by their dogs in a month than this 'killer disease' has in all its time. So shall we kill all our dogs? :-? Sometimes fear and panic are created to bring about circumstances for change.

I was watching President Bush in a CNN interview when he was asked about this flu and the possibility of quarantining entire cities. He made a brief affirmation to that possibility and went on to the next question. Think it out, presently we'er planning on stopping all travel to places like greece where the flu has been detected. Next entire cities in America could possibly be off limit to travelers coming and going, if that doesn't stop it, they'll close the borders between states. That's scarey stuff .Psalms 91 is looking better and better every day for a promise out of God's Word for protection!

Dohzman,Remember the SARS scare? (MILLIONS COULD DIE!) How about west nile virus? (MILLIONS COULD DIE!)Both pandemics never panned out. News media and scientist thrive on fear! Without fear they (the news) are basically out of a job. Besides, birds fly and it's probably already in the wild bird population so since birds don't really care much about who's borders they cross, quarantining is useless.Bubba,What would be your take on the fact that Jesus ate meat? If it were inherently wrong, don't you imagine he would have put an end to it? He was up to the task, wasn't He? I mean he could have just said, "because of sin and the hardness of your heart Moses allowed you to eat meat, but I say he who eats meat violates himself..." or something to that effect. Hmmm... maybe he DID say that and some meat eating scribe edited it out!Bubba you seem pretty self-sure about this evolution business, have you ever stopped to consider that the evolutionists that have influenced your thinking may have an agenda that may not be in your best interest's?

Hmm...It does seem that they (the officials, not just the news) are taking this one quite a bit more seriously than others. Britian has recently gone into negotiations with several different companies to create 120 million vaccines if the virus does mutate (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9751974/). Several other countries and organizations have taken some serious actions to prevent this disease. Obviously the news is being sensational about the whole thing, but I also dont think this one should be blown off.

It might not the be he Bird Flu, and the media is overly sensationalistic, but don’t be surprised if a big one does break out. Luke 21 -11 And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.Matthew 24 -7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.Revelation 6 -8I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.

I heard the other day that there are eight criteria of the virus that have to mutate before the virus is passed from human to human. Right now the virus is only passing from animal to human because only four of the criteria have mutated. The virus is likely to mutate in the four remaining criteria, but no one knows how soon. The reason why this is taken so seriously is that in nineteen eighteen there was a pandemic bird flue that mutated and killed very large numbers of people around the world. Something like four hundred and fifty thousand people died in the U.S. alone. These weren't just old people. There are stories of young men kissing their wives good bye in the morning on the way to work that died that same day. A couple of years ago I read that there was hardly a family in America that didn't lose someone to this flu pandemic. If a person isn't in a right standing with the Lord, it is a very good time to talk with him.Hos 14:1 O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. Hos 14:2 Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.In Christ,GaryE

I'm not an alarmist, but about certain end time things I stay very watchful and tend to take these things all the more serious. Lets face,it the weather patterns, earth quakes , hurricanes, etc... the world has explained it away and the church has bought it. The same is happening with these flu 's and aids and all the new strains of viruses that we hear about, science just explains it away and the church buys into it, so the sound of the trumpet of warning is never made.No ones willing to acknowledge God in all these things, so the church just stays asleep.

There are a lot of potential problems that we don't usually hear about. One time I was reading about a large aquifier in the mid-west U.S. that covers a bunch of states. It is being drained for irrigation. It supposedly takes years for it to replenish itself and as the years go by the wells have to be dug deeper and deeper. Places that were originally artesian wells {wells that when originally hit shot water in the air} now have to be pumped. I also read that the ground water in many places is polluted with pesticides and herbicides. Many of the miracle drugs used to stop bacteria no longer work because of the over use of these drugs. Some horrible diseases from the past like TB may become widespread again. Our grain crops are for the most part hybridized. By select breeding to get a desired yield, only a few of many types of corn are used. If there ever is a virus that attacks those few types of corn, the world could lose most of its corn crop in a few years. When there is no corn, there is no beef, etc.................................................There is a perfect peace for those whose mind is stayed on the Lord. Hab 3:16 When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops. Hab 3:17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Hab 3:18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.Hab 3:19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments. In Christ,GaryE
