(the herald) Hell and the Responsibility For A Lost World

sermonindex Oct 22, 2005

Hell and the Responsibility For A Lost Worldby Greg Gordon Isn't it amazing that after so many hundreds of years after the acension of Jesus Christ and the insuition of the church, the body of christ on the earth, and so many are missing the point of what Christianity is about. Many in our day are zealous for absoulte truth in the Bible and in Doctrine, and rightly so! Yes orthodoxy of doctrine and belief is paramount and essential. But what could be more important then this? Responsibility. The vast responsibility for these truths that we hold is the thing that is utmost and needed in our day. We need to realize that we are responsible for these truths that we defend, dig for and digest. We cannot hold these things to ourselves even though in them there is life. The truths of Christianity and the Bible reveal the person of Jesus Christ and the deep riches and promises in Him. These things to know God and Jesus are eternal life and are precious. But far be it from us to hold onto this pearl of great price, hoarding it to ourselves and not telling the world where to find the exact same bounty. Of all the truths that we understand and know the most fearful is Hell. An eternity in Hell away from God is unimaginable. An eternity away from joy, peace, life. Utter darkness that can be felt. Continual lust of things that becomes a toture. Oh how we cannot even begin to grasp the utter horrors that await those who "know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ." (2 Thessalonians 1:8). Can any man be considered human that will allow someone to walk to their death unwarned? to walk off a cliff, or burn in a building alive if it could be simply avoided by telling them of the danger? You are responsible dear Christian do not think otherwise. If you bear the holy name of Christian and claim to have the Spirit of God dwelling in you and Jesus Christ as your Lord then you have a solemn responsibility towards this generation of souls who walk not with God. Keith Green stated: "This generation of Christians is responsible for this generation of souls on the earth!" The world is lost, its fallen into the depths of sin and utter rebellion to God. Truly today is a wicked and perseverse generation that do not know God. And God's judgement rest upon the wickedness and sinfulness of man: "For therein is the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness." (Romans 1:18). Christian, hold fast to your responsibility, share the pearl of great price with others who namely is Jesus. Oh when we get to the judgement seat of Christ we would have wished that we did more! Listen to the words of the untiring general, William Booth: "Your days at the most cannot be very long, so use them to the best of your ability for the glory of God and the benefit of your generation." Arise from your slumber Christian before someone takes your crown. Spent and be spent for the Lord. Let your holy life be a rebuke to the world. And above all pray, pray and pray. Pray for a people that are: "Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affections, implacacble, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgement of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them." (Romans 1:30-32). Christianity is about the message of the Gospel. Share Jesus Christ with others, not just the thought or theory but the person. The prince of preachers C.H. Spurgeon leaves us with an call to action: "If sinners be dammed, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one GO there UNWARNED and UNPRAYED for."

Eze 3:17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.Eze 3:18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.................................................Some people hear God speaking to them through this word in Ezekiel. There is a plead to warn of a coming judgment. If we are in fact his, can we keep from warning even our enemies? Is there any less blood on our hands than there would have been on the prophets hands if he ignored Gods plea to warn the wicked of a coming judgment? Jesus died for a sin sick world, how can we ignore this sin sick world without so much as a warning?Hopefully, when we are before the Lord and the book is opened, we can say the same things that Paul spoke in the book of Acts.................................................Act 20:20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have showed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house, Act 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.Act 20:26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.In Christ,GaryE

Jesus died for a sin sick world, how can we ignore this sin sick world without so much as a warning?Amen GaryE good word, truly we are all responsible to deliver a message of warning to the unlost millions. God sometimes shows the gracious loving Jesus and then will take people to see how miserable a sinner they are, and then go and take them to the place where they see their utter destruction and end apart from God and left to their own devices. Oh how merciful a God we serve. Abounding in love and goodness towards those who are seeking Him. Tell sinners of their need of a Saviour.

"Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same. By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed." (Job 4:8-9).Amen brother Ricky we need to see the danger of the wicked every day and warn them as God allows us to. Surely the day is dawning we need to still work while it's day.
