Church Agrees to Ban Swallowing Goldfish

That's funny! I don't mean to make lite of it but I do see humor there.

PETA is bullying around Churches now? And the Church is listening? I mean, I understand not wanting to offend someone, but ITS A GOLDFISH!There are no words...Grace and Peace...

Sounds like a publicity stunt to me...Fear factor at church?

"My views are a reflection of yours. We love God's creatures and would never want to show them harm."As part of the Fear Factor ministry at the church, teenage participants were asked to swallow live goldfish. No one reportedly became ill during the goldfish phase of the program that concludes this week.Youth minister Anthony Martin said earlier the goal of the exercise was to teach teens about fear.PETA thanked the church for the ban by sending a gift basket of vegan Swedish fish, a gummy candy, as an alternative to live fish. Now this is more my level of 'faith'. I think I could take a try at one of those 'vegan Swedish fish gummy candies'. Bring 'em on!:-) I can't stop chuckling at the phrase "the goldfish phase of the program". Please tell me what comes next.

I dunno, the vegan gummy candies sound a little bit frightening to me also. I think they did the right thing by backing off this one. Some things are not worth fighting over. As much as possible, live at peace, etc... Everybody sing: "It's the snack that smiles back Goldfish..."

Yeah, you're probably right, mark. I can be known to be overly confrontational, usually to my discredit. The little issues are usually little issues. I can't stand, however, when we back down on the things that do really matter.Grace and Peace...

I'm shocked any parents would have actually been ok with it in the Church, and that there weren't complaints from them. I mean, your kid is eating a live animal.... ack. Sounds more like a college hazing ritual. If they want to overcome fear, have them go out on a street corner and preach 2 or 3 times. That will free ya pretty good from the fear of man.

Every since I started OpenAir preaching, I have thought that if some of these prosperity preachers would open air preach they would get laughed off of the street. I think it would do them some good. Maybe put some real passion in them and they would search the scriptures to find the true Gospel. You don't take many offerings standing on the street corner preaching.
