How to Fight the Religious Right- A guide to defending yourself against fundamentalist Christians

This morning I opened my email to find the link to a webpage that my wife had found. Now, there's many webpages that attempt to Biblically back up varying doctrines, but this webpage came as a bit of a shock to the both of us. It's called "How to fight the religious right- a guide to defending yourself against fundamental Christians."Some of the articles on this page show how to refute the following topics when confronted by a fundamental Christian:Abortion is a SinAlcohol is a SinHomosexuality is a SinPornography is a SinSex outside of marriage is a SinJesus is the only way to HeavenThe Bible is error freeEvolution contradicts the BibleThe end is near- Christ is coming back soonHere's a part of their intro:"Have you been assaulted with statements such of these? Have your political views, your religious beliefs or your behaviors been targeted by such verbal abuse? Have you found yourself defending your choices against individuals so bent on their own agenda that nothing you say makes a difference? Chances are you are being attacked by Fundamentalist Christians. Often called the "Religious Right," these people come from an extreme wing of the Christian Faith. Because of their growing number, many of them - as well as many non-Christians - believe they represent all of Christianity. Not true. These people represent a far-right position in a much larger spectrum of Christian believers. They are Fundamentalists. And by that definition, which they use, they have set themselves up as defenders of the "fundamentals" of the faith, as the guardians of righteousness, as soldiers of the truth. Worried? You should be. Fundamentalists are nothing new however. They can be abrasive, angry, judgmental and downright mean, but they are not true representatives of any of the faiths for which they claim to speak. I say that because every major religion has had its share. Fundamentalist Muslims have made many non-Muslims fear that religion, and yet the Muslim faith, at its core, remains a peace-loving faith. Fundamentalist Jews have made many non-Jews fear that religion, and yet the Jewish faith, at its core, remains a peace-loving faith. And Fundamentalist Christians have made many non-Christians fear that religion, and yet the Christian faith, at its core, remains a peace-loving faith. Although I don't agree with this website entirely. This is a perfect example of why Christians should stay out of politics altogether - left (Al Sharpton)or right (Pat Robertson). Well, I definitely think we take a different stance on this site.I actually consider myself a "fundamental Christian", and find this site amazing. The world is full of "christians" who want all of the benefits, and none of the responsabilities or "drawbacks" of the faith. This site, I think, is twisted. All of those articles are how to refute those ideas, and justify ignoring things that the Bible is very clear about. Grace and Peace...

To make Jesus Christ nothing more than an excuse to live as you desire, and claim the blanket of his death, is sickening! "Saving our children from the Bible"? This man seems to clump fundamental Christians in with fundamental Muslims, etc. He sees them as non-loving, war mongers. Unfortunately, something that many don't see, is that sometime the Love if God means being willing to share the "offense of the Gospel". And this has branded us (fundamentals) as hateful, because inch-deep christians can't see past a worldly love that is utterly useless in the scope of eternity.Grace and Peace...

To better clear up what I've seen from this site, I've got to start by saying that it makes a mockery of those who want to know Christ. Here's a good example: "Thou shalt studieth the Bible in ordereth to best interpret whateth God willeth for thine pitifuleth life, and if thou faileth to accurately understandeth and followeth the correct interpretation, thou willeth remaineth miserable."It makes a mockery of the Bible, it claims there is no absolute truth, it mocks conservative theologians, and argues against many of the few things worth fighting for in this world. I hope that I'm not the only one seeing these things. While it's sad to see the light that conservative Christians are painted in, I wouldn't move an inch to change the view, because in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, THERE IS NO COMPROMISE!Grace and Peace...

It's amazing the brain God has given men. If a man wants to try to refute something, this amazing brain God has given us, can. Now it may be completely made up but we can convince ourselves that it is true. I guess that's why error and deception can creep in so easy. We can convince ourselves and dull our consciences so much that we can believe anything. How does that old saying go? If there is a will, there is a way.

It is always interesting to hear the neighbor who tinkers with his engine on the weekend explain to an auto mechanic how to fix his car...They do have a very small point with many of this ilk as representative of what Christianity is; That is to attempt to fix the problem by squeezing rebels against their will into moral constructs.As put so succinctly by I believe it was InTheLight;"It is not wrong doing, but wrong being"

This is why when witnessing to someone you don't try to play intellectual games with them. You hit their conscience. They may try to argue anything but if they are truthful they have told a lie in their life. And all liars will have their part in the lake of fire is not out of context. God is love, yes, but He is also holy and just. EDIT: People can try to argue anything but their conscience will still scream," CONDEMNED!"
