I was listening to an talk with Leonard Ravenhill from an "revival forum 89 conference" I will get it on the website shortly. There was one question on the top 2 books that he would recommend he said a few more:The Soul of Prayer by P.T. Another he recommended was: "Come Down Lord [Paperback] by Ellsworth"I ordered 2 copies of this one, you can find them for $1-2 dollars used.
Hi SermonIndex...!I would recommend A Christian in Complete Armour to anyone that is seriously seeking the face of God! Every time that I read it -- I realize how far that I am from perfection! It challenges me to seek until I find. The book speaks today as if it were written last year, rather than several hundred years ago. The book ranks near the top of my "must read" lists -- along with Why Revival Tarries, The Pilgrim's Progress, No Compromise and The Cross and the Switchblade. :-)
I copied the Ravenhill list and one book jumped out at me. "Azusa Street" by Frank Bartleman, Wow this book is an answer for those who want to know why revival is so rare. The introduction took a week to get through, if you are a church official you might have a hard time reading this, the author makes some very critical observations about the ecclesiastical establishments and how they respond to out pouring of the Holy Spirit.
