Until the shepherds get honest about themselves, how can we expect the sheep to be honest about themselves? Shepherds must surrender their need to have a good image. Our shepherds highly value good outer performance, nice behavior, and a smoothly operating organization. Sermons focus on this. All the negative stuff gets hidden from view. It all looks good, but does God think so?We must learn to accept the negative - even embrace it rather than deny it. And that means admitting our sinfulness. We must become honest with ourselves, others, and God.Diane

Going back to “Choosing to Suffer”, Leonard Ravenhill points out how to choose a pastor. He suggests taking a piece of paper with you and marking down with a slash every time he says hell, or damnation. He teaches we do not need a preacher that makes us comfortable, it will kill us. I really like Ravenhill and might not of ever learned of his work and preaching if SERMONINDEX had not show cased him like you did.
