We hear so much about our schools prohibiting the name of God, including the word, “Christmas”. And it seems to upset a lot of Christians. But I suspect that God is not bent out of shape by these human limitations. In fact, they are his opportunities! The door has been open wide for me to proclaim the name of Christ in two schools in my community. I arranged to have them combine for a special Christmas presentation at a local evangelical church on Tuesday morning – for their outreach coffee-break ministry. Many parents will be coming to church to hear their children sing about Jesus. That includes a combined choir of 65 kids. The private school does not use any Christian labels (ex: instead they say “Yuletide”) Yet they have permitted me to go and teach all their children songs about Christ, and explain the words. The public school is even allowing me to go there this afternoon to teach music to a class whose teacher is away. These opportunities break all kinds of “rules”, but not God’s rules. I praise God that HE opened the door, and that, through my community involvement over the years the schools have built trust in me, thus permitting me in. I am realizing that our actions say a lot more than words. We don’t have to say the name of God, we just have to TAKE IT ourselves– ie put our trust in him and live it. That goes farther than any words (Christian expressions) could. But it is the costlier way. Diane
