America Parties on the Brink of Judgement -wilkerson

sermonindex Dec 9, 2005

America Parties on the Brink of JudgementThousands of Christians have already seen the handwriting on the wall. What do sinbound people do just prior to judgement? Like Belshazzar, they party while the enemy is gathering at the gate. A Christian rock group yelled into the microphone, "Come, let's party for Jesus." And it is party time for multitudes of God's people. WIth the sword of judgement hanging overhead, they say by their actions, "It is hopeless anyhow! We will have a fling! We will not resist our lusts anymore. We will do as we please."Adultery, fornication, divorce, remarriage- this is God's people doing as they please. This is the last-day Israel following in the steps of Judah and Jerusalem. God can hardly believe it. He said, "Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a horrible thing." (Jeremiah 18:13).God's people are doing a very horrible thing that not even the heathen would do. They don't forsake their gods, but "my people hath forgotten me, they have worshiped vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, in a way not exalted." (Jeremiah 18:15 SPURRELL).How horrible, says the Lord. the people of God stumbling blindly, forsakeing the old paths of holiness, setting their hearts on success, propsperity, and all kinds of other vanities. Is it not true, the Christian path for most today is not the exalted way?No wonder God is now showing us His back and not His face! We are forgetting Him!Hear it and weep, church of God: "My people have forgotten me days without number." (Jeremiah 2:32). Only a church that has forgotten God, only a church bound by lust could become so immoral and lax. Only a hopeless people could give themselves over to such wickedness. These are those who, being reprved, hardened their hearts. And a hard and hopeless heart loses all fear of God, death, or judgement.

"We have heard for years that if we do not repent of our sins, God will send judgement upon us. We may think we are getting by with sin because things do not appear to be so bad. What most of us do not realize is God's judgement has already set in. Our apathy about spiritual things is God's judgement upon us."-Roger EllsworthFrom the book "Come Down, Lord!" by Roger Ellsworth
