3. Careless reading. Few tremble at the Word of God. Few, in reading it, hear the voice of Jehovah, which is full of majesty. Some, by having so large a portion, may be tempted to weary of it, as Israel did of the daily manna, saying—, "Our soul loatheth this light bread;" and to read it in a slight and careless manner. This would be fearfully provoking to God. Take heed lest that word be true of you— "Ye said, also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at it, saith the Lord of Hosts."I must confess that I have been posting daily these bible readings but have not been using them myself for my private readings. I feel led to start reading them again, but as the quote above states I am going to be careful so that 'in reading it, hear the voice of Jehovah, which is full of majesty.'6. Let our secret reading prevent the dawning of the day. Let God's voice be the first we hear in the morning. Mark two or three of the richest verses, and pray over every line and word of them. Let the marks be neatly done, never so as to abuse a copy of the Bible.I will as lead by God share 2 or 3 verses each day that really touched me as per M'Cheyne's suggestion. Feel free to join in and share and read as you feel led or compelled by the Holy Spirit.

Cast all your cares aside and come into His loving embrace. What wonderful words of comfort and grace for these days of trouble and worry.Micah 3:8 (kjv) - But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord, and of judgement, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.Even in days where it shall be 'dark over them' and it seems who knows the voice of God, there will arise a man who the 'Word of the Lord' comes to. To read Christian books is good, even to read the bible is good, but who is going to seek God Himself to hear from his mouth. Beyond the sacred page I seek thee O Lord...Luke 12:12 (kjv) - For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.What an solid assurance we can have, we serve and represent a God who teaches us and leads us in our witness for Him, who is small enough in Himself to believe this and let God do the work?
