Hi Aaron,Matthew 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.The “violent” may also be translated as those who use force, and the “suffereth violence” may also be translated as “applying force.” So what Jesus is saying is that those who use force will take the kingdom of heaven by force. If you put this in context of Ephesians 6:10, Paul exhorts the Ephesians (and us): “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”The Church has to be “strong” in the “power of Jesus Christ – the Holy Spirit,” because in Ephesians 6:12 we are told: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”As the Church we are to filled with the power of the Holy Spirit so as to stand strong against spiritual wickedness. Personally, I found that asking the Father: “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith” (Ephesians 3:14-17), gives us that power.You see, when Christ lives in your heart by faith, He will give you the power you need to discern and “stand strong” against all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:18).This, by the way, is what the Church is told to do. (Ephesians 3:8-10).

Dear Aaron,I've heard it spoken many times the way LetUsPray has written. Many Charismatics and Word of Faith people use the verse this way. I'm not sure where this teaching started but, if you look up the verse on the E-Word Today homepage, you will find that historically this does not seem to be the understanding that the older commentary writers had.
