God’s Best

S

The life of a Christian is the life of the altar and the tent. The altar is toward God while the tent is toward the world. In His presence, God requires that His children have an altar and on the earth that they have a tent. An altar calls for a tent, and a tent in turn demands an altar. It is impossible to have an altar without a tent, and it is also impossible to have a tent without a return to the altar. The altar and the tent are interrelated; they cannot be separated. :- Taken from an article on "THE LIFE OF THE ALTAR AND THE TENT" by Watchman Nee.This is true with very Godly men in any generation. They had the life of the altar and the tent. Please read the following poem of A.B. Simpson, it divulge the depth of his consecration. I often read this poem and repent of my own shallow consecration. Hope this poem will bless you too.God’s BestGod has His best things for the fewThat dare to stand the test;God has His second choice for thoseWho will not have His best.It is not always open illThat risks the promised Rest; The better often, is the foeThat keeps us from the best. Some seek the highest choice,But when by trials pressedThey shrink, they yield, they shun the crossAnd so they lose the best.Give me, O Lord, Thy highest choice;Let others take the rest.Their good things have no charm for me,I want the very best.I want, in the short life of mine,As much as can be pressedOf service true for God and man:Make me to be thy best. -------------- A.B. Simpson
