Friends,My father, Robert Jacobson, who worked as a hospital administrator for many years, (pulling 75 hour weeks regularly) retired at 68 and promptly came down with Parkinson's disease and subsquently had a serious heart attack that affected his mental capacity. He has recovered enough to walk about, but is quite feeble and very often confused, having a difficult time holding a conversation. My mother, Helen, is trying to take care of him at home. I knew he was in bad shape before, but in visiting them this Christmas it has been made clear to me that he is in quite bad shape and is driving her nearly crazy (although she is a stoic Scandinavian and would never admit this.) Her health is good, thank God, and she will probably live many more years. (They are in their mid 70s) But I cannot see how she can continue to do this without it affecting her health as well. I ask that you all pray for them in this difficult time in their relationship. (They have been married for over 50 years.) It is hard for me to be here and watch this, as he spent his life helping people and I don't think he ever had a mean thought in his life.BubPS. Tomorrow, December 27th, is their 52nd Wedding Anniversary.
