Praying Through Song by Keith Green

I've been touched again by a number of "new" Keith Green songs that I haven't heard in 20+ years and wanted to share one that referencing "praying through." What a blessing it was to me today and I pray that it will be to you as well. It's the prayer of my heart for each one who is seeking this with all of their heart, soul and mind. Blessings to you. It's entitled "Until That Final Day."My flesh is tired of seeking God,But on my knees I'll stay.I want to be a pleasing child,Until that final day.My mind is full of many thoughtsThat clutter and confuse. But standing firm, I will prevail,In faith that I'll be used.Amen! I'm asking once again.Won't you help me my friend, Lord Jesus.Holy Lord Spirit, set us free,From chains we cannot see,Come release us.I wrestle not with flesh and blood,My fight is with the one,Who lost the keys of hell and death,To God's most precious son.One sleepless night of anguished prayer,I triumphed over sin.One battle in the holy war,God's promised me to win.Amen! I'm asking once again.Won't you help me my friend, Lord Jesus.Holy, Lord Spirit, set us free,From chains we cannot see,Come release us.My flesh is tired of seeking God,But on my knees I'll stay.I want to be a pleasing child,Until that final day.

I absolutly love Keith Green, and his lyrics are a prayer to our Father. The beginning of this song has always gripped me. I do find that there are times when I am tired of seeking God. They remind me that I seldom feel my way into a proper action. Instead, I need to act in obedience and the feelings of joy will come in time.

Amen, yes I can't find much music like this now. I have a dear brother who has written some great songs at Hand of Help.Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Instead, I need to act in obedience and the feelings of joy will come in time. Amen, so true brother. Blessings to you...

I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have "re-discovered" Keith Green's music. Can anyone name any Christian music from the years of 1978-1983 that is still effecting people's hearts as much now as it did then like the music of Keith Green? (With the possible exception of Larry Norman)I hear nothing on Christian radio right now that even comes close to Keith's music.Krispy

I have some Keith Green, and he's different all right, but, I've been blessed by Don Francisco's combination of retelling Bible stories in song (for which he is famous), his worship songs, and, his serious challenge to dead religion. It's not 'political' but, it challenges hypocrisy. I reckon it takes courage to sing it, too.

I hear nothing on Christian radio right now that even comes close to Keith's music. I totaly agree... I was exciting to get satelite radio because of the large selection of Christian stations. There is quite a selection alright, but nothing I care to listen to!! Alot of music that sounds very similar to the world's music with a "Jesus" thrown in here and there... no thanks!! I'll stick to my Keith Green CD's. Kelly Wilerson [daughter-in-law of David Wilkerson] is a my second favorite!

Kelly Wilkerson is a very annointed singer as well. My wife and I enjoy her immensely and a new CD was just released before Christmas. Since my wife is a musician, we're always looking for good, solid Christian music to listen to. One singer we've listened to quite a bit is a man named Huw Priday. He is quite good and has a couple of CDs made available through www.christianbook.com.EDIT: I didn't personally like the "quite good" and felt that wasn't far to Brother Huw, who is a man of God I believe. My apologies but the must is very good...

Keith Green was a prophet of song. He was around just a tad early for my time...so I discovered his stuff about a year ago. Here is a great page that has all the lyrics to his songs.http://www.delusionresistance.org/christian/keith/Keith_Green_main.html

Keith Green was a prophet of song. He was around just a tad early for my time...so I discovered his stuff about a year ago. Well... truth be told, I didnt discover KG until after I was saved in the 90's. What's interesting is that his style of music was NOT my style. I was into all the metal stuff when I was in school in the early 80's and in the Marines in the late 80's, early 90's. AC/DC, Dio, Motley Crue... etc... And it took awhile for me to dump that music after I was saved. I remember my wife gave me the 4 CD box set of Keith's music, and looking back on it she must have really thought I would get past the music and be blessed to have gotten me the complete music library of KG!But ya know, God cut thru my musical biases because I was never once put off by Keith's musical style... in fact, it grabbed me and pulled me in.And I do still enjoy Christian metal music (depending on the artist, not all in Christian Music are following Christ), especially when I am lifting at the gym (love Rob Rock!)... but no one gets to my heart, my spirit and my soul the way Keith Green does.By the way, if you havent read his biography, it's a must read.Krispy
