Groanings From My Heart

It seems that the whole of Christianity is drowning in death. I don't mean to be pessimistic, but is it not true? Christ is the Life, yet still so much death. How can one claim to be born of that Spirit of Resurrection yet be filled with so much death, depravity, and demonic influence? Then there is some with sin, selfishness and self-righteousness. But praise God there are some with holy living, holy love, and are Holy Ghost endued. Is it not grieving to God that so many seek wisdom without worship, happiness without holiness, and forgiveness without forsaking? The eyes that look down from His throne upon this earth do they not run down with tears as rain? God help us! We say we love God as much as every generation past yet spend less time with Him than every generation past. So many want the resurrection power to come upon them, yet so little want to pray as in Gethsemane and endure the cross. Oh my heart breaks for this wicked land! The world may go to hell, but the church shouldn't! I believe it's more grieving to God to see the one who names the name of Christ and does not depart from iniquity than the outspoken atheist. They are enemies of the Cross! God help us if we can't weep over them! Phi 3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Phi 3:19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) Let's look at those verses. What are the characteristics of these rebels? You can see 4 things here. 1. The end is destruction. This word could also be translated damnable or able/worthy to be damned. Should that not strike fear in each and everyone of us and bring us to a place where we hate the garment spotted by the flesh and want to pull them out of the fire? (see Jude 23) 2. They are ran by their flesh. If their flesh craves it, they feel that they must fulfill it. No self-control. 3. They are proud of what they should be ashamed of. Things that should be despicable, they glory in.4. The mind earthly things. Strong's puts this word "mind" as " entertain or have a sentiment." Are we entertained by the world? Do we substitute joy for earthly entertainment?Lets look at 3 characteristics of Paul here.1. He speaks this truth often. He is not swayed by what men might call "harsh" or unneeded. 2. He is so filled with compassion that he cannot keep the tears back.3. He speaks slicing truth. Purity will bring passion. The purer you life is the purer your love towards the One who gave you life is. The more you pray, the more you want to pray. The more you worship, the more you want to worship. The more you preach, the more you want to preach. Our God is a consuming fire! It seems that everyone wants to get angry, yet few will anguish. What many would call "holy anger" is probably nothing more than "unholy pride." How do you know the difference? If its "holy" is will be aimed in the direction that God is being robbed. If its "unholy" then its aimed in the direction of man.

I just went to a womens bible study today. It was one of those teaching series with Beth Moore. My friend kept asking me to go for weeks now and I didn't want to because Im tired of teaching. Most teaching is about improving one's self. The only way I feel I can improve as a christian is by obeying God. My husband went to college and got his associates degree and he can't remember much of anything he's learned and he was a straight A student.I tease him alot because I told him he wouldn't remember any of that stuff. The one thing I learned from Watchman Nee is that the only thing that brings about a change in us is revelation. You must have a revelation of what is being taught before it brings about change. Most of what is taught today is meant to puff you up.Once you get the revelation of what God wants to show you than you don't have to go back and keep reminding yourself because revelation brings change and it stays with you. 90% of what people learn in these big bible study groups they won't remember next week.Whatever doesn't fall on good soil the enemy will take it away.Only good seed can bear good fruit! I can't get any of these women to even go hand out tracks with me.They sit around, talk about their problems, drink coffee and eat donuts. Im really bummed!I really would rather go out with one other person but I can't find one!!! I will probably just go out by myself.Im not going to let that stop me!!!

Hey this could be a good thread. We could use this thread as a place to put thoughts or general concerns that you might have but didn't want to start a thread about it. Or just say some things that you want to get out. Rebecca, I bet you will find someone to "buddy" up with. I know when I first wanted to go out and do street work and evangelism, I didn't really have anyone. I would go with different people from time to time, but those wouldn't do consistantly, like I wanted to. But thanks be to God, he put a guy with me that will "tough it out" no matter what! He doesn't open air preach with me, but I will admit I feel like something is missing when he isn't there with me. He is always an encouragement and one with the attitude, " I want to help how ever I can." I think we are a great match!

Rebecca,Did you ever express your views about self-improvement cloaked in Biblical terms? Try that and see what happens! I will bet you will have a fight on hand! Opps! they must not have covered that in their studies yet or maybe they have not achieved their ability to be tolorant of differing opinions...oh! dear, I am being sarcastic, am I not? Actually, this type of thing makes me sick.Too bad you do not live closer to me...I would love to go with you to hand out tracts....ginnyrose

Rebecca - pray for heart changes amidst your group. And pray the Lord gives you someone to go with. I have just come to the conclusion you really can't persuade people of anything.

Its sad when the average "christian" wont even take out tracts with them to a resturant. If people use the excuse that their not bold enough to talk to others about Jesus, does it take boldness to put a tract on a table =NO! Its takes the love of God which is the problem with many! Its really sad.

I have a real burden for teenagers.Im going to try handing out tracts and talking to some kids when school lets out. It is legal if your on the sidewalk isn't it?Does anyone know what the laws are when it comes to the public schools? Im sure I might get some backlash from some parents but I don't care so long as Im on legal grounds.

Rebecca, Have you tried getting involved in a ministry program where teens are involved? Maybe a teen pregnancy or drug outreach? I am 30 now...but I remember enough of my teen years to know that I would have avoided "that lady on the street handing out tracts". I don't want to discourage you because I love your heart and if this is the ministry God calls you to then AMEN!

Conqueror, Im 37 and I remember my teen years enough to know that I would not have turned away someone preaching the gosple. I went to a Methodist church and never heard the plan of salvation. Both my Sunday school teachers were lesbians and our Sunday school class would go to their house on Halloween and they would have seances and try to wake the dead.I never went back to church again after that.So I know what it means to have no direction in life. Why would I want to do what everyone else is doing and go where everyone else wants to go?If someone else is already there doing it why would I want to be there? Shouldn't we be going where the need is? Im sure we all will recieve some correction every now and than and if it doesn't work than I guess you just have to keep truckin right?
