U.S. passed 47 million mark for abortions in 2005

sermonindex Jan 26, 2006

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)--In what can only be described as tragic, the United States likely experienced its 47 millionth legal abortion at some point in 2005, more than three decades after the Supreme Court issued its infamous 1973 Roe. v. Wade decision legalizing the killing of the unborn. The statistic is based on data since 1973 gathered by the pro-choice Guttmacher Institute and on estimates by the National Right to Life Committee. In the first full year of abortion legalization nationwide (1974), Guttmacher counted 898,600 abortions. That number reached a peak of 1,608,600 in 1990, before falling to 1,293,000 in 2002.Since 1975, the United States has witnessed more than 1 million abortions each year. Unless the nation's laws are changed, the number of abortions post-Roe will pass 50 million in 2008.

Hi sermonindex...!This is truly heartbreaking! Hopefully, the appointment of Judge Samuel Alito may turn the tide on this holocaust.Liberal politicians attempt to paint abortion as a matter of "privacy." Women are told that they should have the "right" to decide what happens in their own bodies. However, the United States prohibits murder -- even if you want to do it within your own house, car, boat, etc... Additionally, a person is extremely limited in what they can do in their own homes. They are prohibited from drugs, rapes, assaults, viewing child pornography, etc... Why should a woman be allowed to murder her living, unborn child just because it would occur within her own body? The only way abortion can be overturned, in my opinion, is when the extent of such a "right to privacy" will be limited.

What does everyone think of this thought:History repeats itself. At the first comming (EDIT: before his "hour had come" John 2:4) of Jesus the government killed all the babies under 2. Now before the second comming all the (unborn) babies are being killed. Mat 2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.I cannot remember who it was (maybe someone can help me) but I remember some woman say that she didn't beleive life started untill the age of 2. Does anyone remember who that was?

If those 47 million unborn babies were alive today they would make up approxiamtely 14.5% of the US population. In another 10 years it will probably be 25%.Krispy

Very interesting thought...However, when studying history, one finds abortion, euthansia, infanticide occurring through out the history of sinful man. All one needs to do is a search on the web using these key words and see what you will find...it may shock you. And like it or not, but the sites with the most info on this subject will likely be posted by Catholic organizations. About the person who says a child's life did not start until 2 years of age....I did a search on the web using Altavista and could not find its source. However, this sounds like something, or close to it, what Peter Singer might say. Here is a link that will get you informend on what he believes:http://www.catholiceducation.org/articles/medical_ethics/me0049.html Blessings, ginnyrose

Have there not always been "wars and rumors of wars" throughout history too? Do you not agree it is increasing?
