Canada's Conservative Party wins electio

OTTAWA - Stephen Harper and his Conservative Party won national elections Monday and ended 13 years of Liberal rule, giving Canada a leader who was expected to move the country to the right on social and economic issues and bolster ties with the United States.The Conservatives’ winning margin was too narrow to avoid ruling with a minority government, a situation that will make it difficult to get legislation through a divided House of Commons.The triumph for the Conservatives came with many Canadians weary of the broken promises and corruption scandals under the Liberal Party, making them willing to give Harper a chance to govern despite concerns that some of his social views are extreme.

This is great news and an answer to my prayers and the prayers of many other canadian christians.

I was happy to see Conservative leader Stephen Harper elected even though I voted Liberal. I voted Liberal because the MP in my area would do a much better job than his Conservative collegue. If Stephen Harper was on the ballot, I would have voted for him.The last time a Conservative party was in goverment under Brian Mulroney, he made a mess from start to finish. The people of Canada have never forgotten those years thats why the Conservatives only got a minority government this time around, they are difficult to trust.The Liberals would be governing today if it wasn't for the legislation of the gay marriage bill. The corruption and the scandels the people of Canada are used to hearing, its these other issues that touch home to each and every individual. When you start tampering with tradition thats when people start to get angry. Stephen Harper is happy that he was elected as Prime Minister, but not as happy as he would like if he had a majority government. He made a million campaign promises that are going to be difficult to keep.Political Analysists are giving him 18 to 24 months to show Canadians that he can govern with a minority government. If not, he will have to call for another election as the other partys will move for a no confidence vote.
