Divorce each other or divorce the world...

Just a thought: Theres more divorces in churches than in the world...we know that by now BUT as Ravenhill said if Samson would of been on his knees he would of never been on Delilahs knees! If the church would divorce the world..she would never divorce. Think about that! So simple but so unwilling. What the church has now (alot of christians) is a legal seperation. Shes unwilling to divorce it. "The world is passing away"..from what?? Answer is God, but we keep a safe distance from the world all the time the world is getting further from God. When the world is getting further from God and WE keep a safe distance from the world We just got further away from God!!! Reread this again and think about it. Divorce the world and keep no connection to it, because shes passing away further from Christ. Where the world WAS we are when we stay attached to the world as ahe passes away, and now we are of the world if we dont divorce it. Confused yet?? Reread it? :-)

Hi brother Brent,I'm sincerely, truly, earnestly not trying to open a can of worms here, but I used to live up North. Not only was the climate cold, but the spiritual air was too and there were very few Churches and less 'good' Churches. Then I moved to "The Belt Buckle of the Bible Belt", as it's called and what I found down yonder here, is ... "Once Saved Always Saved so I can divorse my husband/wife and God will forgive me."I'm not making up a story there ... that is actually a major consensus around here. And the single girls and guys, go clubbing on the week-end and well, 'make friends' there and then get up (somehow) on Sunday morning to go to Church and hear their Pastor that excuses them on the basis of OSAS.I worked with lots and lots of people down here, and I'm sorry to say, this is what I've heard from them.I know that not all believers in that doctrine teach loose living and I listen to some great ones on the radio that preach Holiness (like on www.wmit.org )... besides the great Classic Authors we have on this Site and elsewhere ... but down yonder here ... humans are like humans everywhere ... they hear what parts they want to hear and the Pastors get bigger flocks if they don't preach Holiness. :-o

Once saved always saved is from the pit anyway so I hope that can of worms stays shut.

Interesting it is, how is it that so many who vehemently deny the preservation of the Saints or “once saved always saved”, live, preach and allow the mess of fornication and adultery to continue unchecked in the church as if they did believe this doctrine? In doctrine deny, but in practice affirm?tonys

Yeah, well that's why I always hesitate to bring it up, ya know.Look at our Classic authors like Spurgeon, Moody, Murray, etc. etc., we grew up on them, but would never take UNCONDITIONAL eternal security to the limits it's being taken now.I like Alistair Begg and Ravi Zacharias, and they sure would never allow such permissiveness in their Churches. But, folks either Love the Lord or they don't, and because of that, make UNCONDITIONAL mean whatever feels good at the time, I suppose.I saw a 'christian' site the other night that focused mainly on "we have to be HAPPY" ... that "being HAPPY was the whole goal of life".They didn't 'say' this following remark, but I've heard it around enough .... If you're not 'HAPPY' with your spouse, Dump 'em. :-(

I have lived in the Bible Belt since 1961, and brother, it is exactly like you said it is. I have worked/volunteered at a Crises Pregnancy Center for 15 years, and I can tell you that work will expose to you the depravity of 'Christian' people like nothing else will. I used to have a high respect for clerymen and sincere people of other denominations...no more. I am sure there are people there grieved with the situation, but for the most part they will rationalize it. I have told a friend the way they have accepted divorce in their churches is just a forerunner of them accepting unrepentent homos...and sadly enough it is happening. A very odd thing is a teen's perception - of the OSAS tradition - of godly living. I asked a fornicator one time why she thinks she will get to heaven: "Oh, I helped sell a lot of tickets for a fund raiser our youth group did!"ginnyrose

Ginnyrose, I loved the girls I worked with so much. They were like daughters to me. One had a child without a daddy and the others were all going to the Club on the weekends, finding guys, etc and to Church on Sunday. They knew I really loved them, so I felt free to ask them, what does your Pastor say about that ?They went to a Baptist Church so I hoped they'd say he frowned on it ... but they said, he only says "Oh yeah, I was young once too."I've always said that I would call and make an appointment to speak to that man :-( .

dear me, if we believe that the Holy Spirit is the convictor of sin as the bible teaches we should let him do his job and not judge anything before its time so that we are never self endulged busybodies pokin our noses in others lives. we should demonstrate the gospel to young believers and incourage them to holiness by our joyous testimony of Christ in us.if the Holy Spirit cannot convict what can i do? we lose sight that an alter is the place of death and total sacrifice and in that we have great security that if we are truly living sacrifices we can say with paul gal2:20 I AM CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST etc. jimp

You work at a CPC? How interesting. You are the first person on this board I have met to have this experience. Now about you meeting with the miniter...I used to say I would go around and talk to those preachers, but didn't because of time constraints. You go ahead and do that and then come back and tell me what happened! I would love to hear the results! Most preachers, though, would agree - which means they will allow you to believe this, they can be master charmers - with you in principle but church discipline has long since fled. :-o And now they have a job to protect which pays their living. Our minister spoke often with a minister from another denomination who realy had a heart for God and was deeply grieved with the sins in his congregation. He finaly got to the point where he felt it was his duty to warn the people but knew it would cost him his job. And that is exactly what happened.ginnyrose

Hia Ginnyrose, No I didn't work at a CPC, I just worked with a Nursing Home staff.Excuse me, but I'm still trying to get "jimp"s understanding of the Bible here. Are you saying Jimp, that Pastor's should just go ahead and allow tons of babies to be born with no daddy ? Because that's what we were talking about and God help me, but I don't know what you are talking about. I can't seem to find your ""busybodies pokin our noses in other's lives"" in the Bible. I think maybe reading just 1st and 2nd Timothy may be a good starter for you. 1Tim 5:20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. Sorry, Ginnyrose, but I surely got distracted by jimp's post. :-o Grateful for the work you are doing sister.God Bless you.
