Dorcas - Traveling Mercies

I know this is kind of a tradition to pray when someone 'travels' somewhere. And I see nothing wrong with any kind of prayer. Cause no prayer is sinful. Because prayer is just getting close to His Most Holy. And Holiness and sin can't co-exist.Anywho. Dorcas will be flying over to the America's going from state to state, she will be seeing many SI members. Including myself. I pray that God just has His hand on EVERY aspect of her journey's. Not just a simple prayer for 'traveling mercies' but also for God to open tremendous doors while she is here, to minister in love.So ya! She left today I believe....

Thanks y'all for praying. I'm loving every minute of my experience in the US..... not as close to the internet as I expected, tho' so it will be quieter from me than usual. Maybe that's a good thing. The Lord knows.

A year later, and a second trip already completed, I am, as some of you know, planning another trip to the US. It is partly because of a couple of enquiries, that I'm reviving this post.

Diane's words rang in my mind at the time she wrote them, but I will make no such claim for myself. However, when Diane heard of my second trip (which I thought would be [i]now[/i], not last November when it actually happened), she was swift to ask if she could travel with me. :-D

But, as the second trip was organised quite quickly when an unexpected window opened very much by the Lord's arrangement, Diane was swift (again) to say 'This is of the Lord', and recognise she could [i]not[/i] join me right then. In every other way, and despite a continual flurry of glitches, that trip flew by with amazing ease and tremendous blessing, (according to all feedback), and I enjoyed my first Thanksgiving - in [i]Florida[/i] :-).

Therefore now, [u]with[/u] Diane's participation, and also the involvement of others - Bro Daryl (dohzman) and Dian (Spitfire) - in the [i]planning[/i] of two or three little gatherings for fellowship [i]and worship[/i], this trip is looking very different from either of the first two, [i]however it pans out as we live through it![/i] (See, I'm learning!)

This, then, is an invitation to any of you who would [i]like[/i] to connect with us, to get in touch with me or Dian (Spitfire), to work out if this is practicable for you (and us).

While I intend that this should not be the last time I travel in the US, after getting the timing of my [i]actual[/i] second trip so wrong, I'm not going to venture a comment on [i]when or where[/i] the next may be, (although I am not forgetting I've already mentioned Texas in this thread; this trip is not to Texas either.)

For all the most obvious reasons we are not posting our itinerary on the public forum, and for the same reasons, [u]I hope no-one else will[/u], and [b]thank you all in advance[/b].

We all value the prayers of those who feel led to bear us up, trusting the Lord to bring His purposes for each life, into greater focus.

Please also pray for those who we should join and be joined by, that each individual will know they are doing what God wants for [i]them[/i], at this time. Thank you. 8-)

The dates of my trip are 26th March, arriving in Chicago, to 9th April, departing from Ottawa.

The reason for posting so far in advance is, on the first trip, I was within an hour of someone who wanted to meet me, but, it could not be factored in at the last minute.

This really is an open invitation.

There can be time to socialise over coffee or a meal if that's all you want but, please understand, primarily I'm not a tourist.

While I was surprised by the amount of blessing experienced by those I met in November, this is a reflection on me, not God.

He is worth getting together for, and worth worshipping together, and that's really the only thing on my mind and heart.

It's been pointed out to me that I'm making this invitation sound a bit too [i]secret squirrel[/i], but that is not my intention at all. Literally anyone who feels interested in joining some real 3D fellowship with other saints from SI, is welcome to get in touch for the exact details of where to come.

But, for the sake of families (in particular), who have young ones to protect, the venues will not be posted on the internet.

Our first gathering will be in [b]Chicago, on Wednesday, 28th March[/b], in the second half of the day. An exact time will be set later, and the venue will be refined according to numbers.

Our second gathering will be in [b]Ohio, on Saturday, 31st March, in the Columbus area[/b], give or take a few miles, again, depending on numbers. The start time will be very early afternoon.

I'm willing to answer questions on the phone, too, as I understand completely that it may feel too crazy to arrange to meet people to [i]pray[/i] with, if you've never had even one voice conversation. :-o

The way the days in Chicago are shaping up, those of us who are ready to meet will be joining with Neil (bartle) to pray and fellowship together, on more than one evening.

We are expecting a very real work of God in each of us, as this journey was prompted by the Spirit first of all, some months ago.

Of course, faith attracts a certain amount of enemy attention, which if nothing else, forces one to focus on God more, rather than less.

But, it is a discipline of heart and mind to walk out one's decisions in the face of distraction, disinclination, doubt and difficulty, all of which have tested our resolve from time to time.

I am grateful to every one who has become obedient to their belief God wants us to meet, and who has turned this into practical action at a cost of time and money at least. This is very humbling (for me) and causes a certain amount of amazement to my soul... not a little amazement, actually.

Early in my thinking on whether to plan detail for our times together, I wondered if we should have a theme, or a scripture on which to hang our mediations. Psalms 22, 23 and 24 emerged - famously described as 'the cross', 'the crook', (that is the [i]Shepherd's[/i] crook) and 'the crown' - full of potential for praying into and testimony, but these remain in the realm of a suggestion only.

Also, musical contributions are welcome.

Thanks Sean. It was great to meet and talk with you over the weekend. We are all still talking about it.

Later on Saturday, Mike, Daryl, me, Dian and Diane spent some time in prayer.

On Monday, Diane and I met Daryl's family and saw the church where he ministers locally, and had another precious time together.

Diane (roadsign) and I are now at Jeff's (rookie's), and I'm intending to meet others in Pennsylvania later this week. 8-)
