I think maybe there was a topic long ago on these forums about similar things but I cant remember the name or if it was my imagination. but I was wondering if folks wanted to share testimonies on this forum. I know it could get kinda long, but for me they as close to reading the book of Acts as it gets, and they are all so incredibly edifying!!

I'm gonna break the ice here, I really wanta hear folks testimonies!!!BACKGROUND: Grew up in Pensacola. My whole family is christian by culture only so we went to church almost every sunday growing up. From the age of 3 or 4 I wanted to be an army helicopter pilot(was what my life was lived for). From 4th grade on I went to "christian" schools and all through high school attended catholic hs and went to Umeth church sunday and some wednesdays. My half-brother who is about 10yrs older than me was a mennonite then. When he would come down he would constantly be planting little seeds; being a solid christian witness in my family(he stuck out in my "christian" family). throughout high school lived a "good" life some sexual sins, no drinking no "actual sex" as i liked to justify it. through high school i was that normal average american "protestant christian" by culture and I would argue with my catholic friends and athiest friends and all those others trying to show them how mine was the best(never really knowing why). COLLEGE: after high school decided to come to Auburn, AL(3 yrs ago) because it had a good Army ROTC program and a good Mech Engineering program. So I come up and, wouldnt ya know it, i get placed in a dorm suite with 1 out of 3 of my roommates being bonified born-again christians and 2 being nominal christians(like me except they had testimonies and were backslidden). So I'm sailing along with my plan to be in the ARMY hooah! wake up at 5am go to PT everymorning ROTC class 3x a week think about it all the time. Lust, drinking, and violence(ARMY) what more could an american ask for? well apparently God was not amused by my heathenish christianity that I was living. so my christian roommates convinced me to go to their church one sunday. I went and did the same thing that the other 2 were doing, going and getting nothing out of it. One day all the sudden this verse popped in my head and stuck with me during my pre-conversion times Psalm 40:17 - "But I am poor and needy; the Lord will take thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; O my God, do not delay." I really loved this verse because it sounded like a pinned down infantry squad calling for air support or evac.(little did I know God was using this to stir on my reading) after this verse I began to read my bible fairly weekly(like 2x a week maybe). Then I got to the end of my spring semester and the rug got pulled out from under me.DISASTER: I was kicked out of ROTC for Medical Disqualification. And like I said Army was my life, so none the less I cried because I didnt know what i was going to do. So I headed home for the summer and started really searching for the first time in my life...YAYYYY:(2 summers ago) When I came home from college for the summer I knew there was something wrong in my life(remember none of my family is christian). So I spent a good chunk of my summer sitting upstairs in my room with my bible. And as I read I started to get farther and farther in... However it was not to be the bible alone. One day (and I have no idea now and i have tried to remember since that summer with no results) I found this site, and found a sermon from AW Tozer on the Holiness of God and it sat me at awww to God, this was followed by ten sheckels and a shirt and that was the end of me, when he talked about living christian for myself I was done and i became a christian in that sermon. I'm not sure how long this site had been up by 2 summers ago but i dont think there were but maybe 100 or so members when I stumbled upon it. and that summer I was tremendously blessed, not only by the spirit opening my eyes to the word but also by the awesome lectures that were given on this site (by you mods i think) they were truly a blessing and you all continue to be.

There have been several different testimony threads here on SI. What a joy to read of the mighty work of God in the hearts of brothers and sisters! Here's a few that I could find...Webmaster's TestimonyWhen Jesus Came Into My LifeMy Unplanned Pregnancy/Marriage TestimonyAaron Ireland's TestimonyMy Testimony
