Update: Krispy's eyes ... or, I saw the Light

sermonindex Feb 23, 2006

OK... the blurriness is going away, so I'll give y'all an update.I went to Asheville Eye Associates this morning and they ran all the routine exams that they do on diabetics... and everything checked out exceptionally well. My vision has even improved, and I now have 20-15 vision. Not bad for pushing 40.As for the blind spot, the Dr said she thought it was like a fluid blister in the retina, but wasnt 100% sure. If thats what it is, it will eventually go away. She also mentioned that it seems to occur in Type "A" personalities. How 'bout that... lol.Soooo... they sent me across the street to Western Carolina Retinal Specialists... and I spent a lot of time sitting there waiting... and waiting ...Anyway, THEY ran a bunch of tests and the Dr there said he doesnt see the fluid blister that the other doctor saw. But he did see very minor damage to the retina caused by diabetes, tho he was impressed that it was extremely mild. However, since he didnt see the blister, but did see the diabetes damage, he tends to think that the blind spot is caused by the diabetes... but he's not 100% sure yet. The type of blood vessel damage he was talking about isnt usually noticable... doesnt effect vision. It would be extremely rare, and usually in people that have thousands of places where there is blood vessel damage... I have TWO.I have to go back to see him in April. So I dont really have an answer. I can report tho that my glaucoma test came back perfect, and altho there is some retinopathy, it is extremely minor. Also my blood pressure was 122/77, and my vision has always been great but seems to have even improved. So God is good. Both the doctors said to me that physically I dont look like a person who has diabetes. The Retinal Specialist even asked me if I use steroids because that can cause damage to the retina. I said "No, I dont use steroids... but thanks for asking!" LOLSo keep me in your prayers. I appreciate y'all praying for me. I try and make it a point to pray for all of you as well.Love ya!Krispy

Thanks for the upadate. Good news is always welcome! Praise God for the positive reports, and it sounds like you do a commendable job of taking care of yourself physically. Well done brother!MC

She also mentioned that it seems to occur in Type "A" personalities. How 'bout that... lol.Good to hear your good news krispy. I think some of us here on SI might be able to identify one or two other characteristics that 'seem to occur' in certain 'personalities'. :-D

Overall the news was good, a good report. But just want to mention, in case you didnt catch it... I still dont have a definitive answer as to what is causing the blind spot. Just two opposing theories... by two Dr's who are both billing my insurance company for almost $1000 each.Just wanted to point that out. Could still use prayer. I'm praying God just heals it and that'll be that. 8-) Krispy

MCYes how about some good news, it sometimes seems as though that we only hear the bad news around every corner, but we all must remember it's ok to post Praise reports or good news, step up to the keyboard and tell us what God has done for you! :-)

Great News Krispy,Quote: Good to hear your good news krispy. I think some of us here on SI might be able to identify one or two other characteristics that 'seem to occur' in certain 'personalities'. Remember -- That Our Character is made up of two personalities, one more dominant then the other. You are HEALED!
