I met a lady at my church..

sermonindex Feb 26, 2006

Wow, I am speechless, and crying.I met a lady at my (new) church who was saved under Tozer's ministry. She is amazing. I talked with her for maybe 10 minutes, but in that 10 minutes I could tell she knew God so profoundly that I have never encountered it before. She also knew Ravenhill. She said those guys (Ravenhill & Tozer) were so commmited to God that if you were not all out for God they wouldn't have anything to do with you. They never wanted to just come and chit-chat and have conversations and whatnot about everything and play games and whatnot and mingle. She said they were ALWAYS in prayer till the day they died. She said they never would stand backsliding. They would never take any falling away. She said it's such a contrast to nowadays, people will stand it, but they would NOT stand it.She said Tozer guarded his pulpit till the day he died. She said he would never allow anyone in his pulpit unless he was completely COMPLETELY sold out for Christ and saturated in so much prayer. She said and he took that Chicago church until the day he died. She said theirs "no more men of God around here, all you see is this feel Good Christianity. Look around boy, all these people here are dead, they may be Christians but they aren't living it as it should be.. look at our prayer meeting, so few come."She said this with such a look that just pierced through my soul.... i can't explain it."What am I to do about people not coming to the prayer meeting? I can't do nothing... I love them but I ache for them day and night""When you get to be my age you just get tired of this stuff... you can't take it anymore. But ohh God has a remnant! And that remnant is all around here.. you be confident of that boy.""So even if everyone is going chaotic, even if this country is going to Hell, God has a remnant!"I talked with her with so little time yet gained so much. She broke me in ways she probably will never know.So I thought i'd share this with you. I want to meet her again. This is a lady that I fear because she knows God so much that I know that my life's complacency and weakness will be such a contrast to her glorious face-- I must seek God. Praise God.

:-) I have to smile first, because when I first started reading this, it brought all my "Church" memories back. And what she was saying and what I went through back then was and is Depressing. But then Thank God, The Almighty .... I reached this part that I'll quote below and my JOY came back at this Oh so True TRUTH.This Truth is what the Lord showed me about 12 years ago ... and that's when we began to 'soar' above the dead steeples ..... IN Christ. The "eagles" verses came to life and God impressed Elijah's dilema to us, and that there 'is' 7000 others (symbolic only ... there's 10,000's more) that have not bowed the knee to Baal and the kingdoms of this world and are indeed called the remnant. If He had not shown me the 'word and the people' called 'the Remnant', I would have fainted in a dry and thirty land.If I could quote this Dear Saint you met today, she says this oh so well."When you get to be my age you just get tired of this stuff... you can't take it anymore. But ohh God has a remnant! And that remnant is all around here.. you be confident of that boy.""So even if everyone is going chaotic, even if this country is going to Hell, God has a remnant!"Glory to God -- Thank you !

I wish I was more like Tozer and Ravenhill. I tolerate way to much in myself and in others. That was very inspiring. Thanx for sharing that.Krispy
