Can you find JOY ?

sermonindex Feb 27, 2006

Just from the Psalms for now :-) ~Psa 5:11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. Psa 16:11 Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore. Psa 21:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!Psa 27:6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. Psa 30:5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psa 32:11 Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart. Psa 35:27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. Psa 42:4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. Psa 43:4 Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God. Psa 48:2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. Psa 51:8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Psa 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Psa 65:13 The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing. Psa 67:4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. Psa 105:43 And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness: Psa 126:5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. Psa 132:9 Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy. Psa 132:16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy. PRAISE AND JOY SEEM SYNONYMOUS :-D. It seems one goes with the other or one will 'cause' the other."SHOUT FOR JOY"The Lord inhabits the praises of His People.

All Joy is stamped out by God. All Joy is given by God and before the Cross only God would give Joy to those that obeyed. Now our joy is made full by the Christ that is in us.John 16:21-27 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father. At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.This is our Joy and no man can take it from us. 1Th 2:19 For what [is] our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? [Are] not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? When He comes we are already with Him.1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.I wish you the comfort and Joy of the Lord in Christ Jesus our Lord. May blessings and Joy fill our hearts by Him that is in us. Amen.In the Joy of Christ: Phillip

Our joy should be rooted in the fact that God brought a dead man back to life, and that He lives forever more. How can I lack joy when Jesus Christ, the Son of God, lives forever more?

The Joy of the Lord is my strength. I think we're still missing something. In this verse, it would seem that it is GOD'S joy that give us strength. How can that be possible? Here is one though: A mother holding her tiny child is filled with joy. They baby looks in her eyes and senses that joy. That joy gives baby the security, assurance, and energy to thrive and grow. Conversely, a child who's mother rarely makes eye contact with him, is not filled with joy over him, may very well fail to thrive. Seeing that our heavenly father is atually filled with joy over us gives us strength to go on and thrive. Perhaps this analogy works best when we are very weak and needy, and do not have strentgh within ourselves to persevere. Does this make any sense? Diane

King Jimmy wrote; Our joy should be rooted in the fact that God brought a dead man back to life, and that He lives forever more. How can I lack joy when Jesus Christ, the Son of God, lives forever more?Truly He did bring a dead man back to life, me. Truly He lives forever, in me. "it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me" Gal 2:20To all that believe our Joy is made full by knowing the Son has given us complete access to the Father who Loves us also just like Christ, in That He Gave His Only Begotten Son on the Cross for us.What more Joy is there, That God so loved us He gave. We are now His and let us make His Joy full by coming to know The Son that is in us. Ask and our Joy is made full by Him.In Christ: Phillip

Psa 27:13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Psa 107:5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Psa 107:6 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. Psa 107:7 And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation. Psa 107:8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Psa 107:9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Mat 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

sa 27:13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. This psalm has been a constant encouragement to me for some time. It is good to see it here.On the issue of 'joy'. Many people seek it but never find it because they don't realise that it is a by-product rather than a prime target. It is a by-product of peace. Some people seek for peace and never find it because it is also a by-product; this time of righteousness. It is the ultimate outworking of the Spirit at work in the life of a man or woman.“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” (Rom 14:17 KJVS) I feel there is a significance in the order here... The scripture, when describing Melchizedek, says that 'first of all' He was King of Righteousness'. How would we ever know joy if we had no inner peace and how would we ever have inner peace but by the gift which comes from 'the King of Righteousness'?

Then my righteousness is the Christ in me. My peace is His Peace not the peace of the world. My Joy is His Joy made full by asking. All that pertains to everything of or salvation is Christ.1 Corinthians 1:27-31 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. The King of Righteousness. Amen.In Christ: Phillip

JOY IS ~ HIM, HIS WORD, AND THOSE WHO LOVE BOTH ~ CALLED ~ "YOU ALL HERE" (my Brethren).Jud 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,3Jo 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 2Jo 1:12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full. 1Jo 1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 1Pe 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 1Pe 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Jam 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations Jam 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Phm 1:20 Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord. Phm 1:7 For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother. 2Ti 1:4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy1Th 3:9 For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God1Th 2:20 For ye are our glory and joy. 1Th 2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? 1Th 1:6 And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy GhostPhi 4:1 Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved. Phi 2:18 For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.Phi 2:17 Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. Phi 2:2 Fulfill ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Phi 1:25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; Phi 1:4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy.Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith2Co 8:2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. 2Co 7:13 Therefore we were comforted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all. 2Co 2:3 And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all. Rom 15:32 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed. Rom 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Rom 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy in Him.

sermonindex Mar 3, 2006

Dear brother Philip ... Amen !!!In the last post on this last page, I couldn't help but notice, how many verses from those Epistles had to do with Joy from the "others" in the Family of Christ ... The One Body under One Head. I knew verses from Paul etc. but when you read that ... not stopping in between verses but as one long thing ... it sure says something of what we have in each other and our Head. But, if for a season, it's hard to find joy from "the Body", then there is ALWAYS JOY in His Word which points to HIS JOY.God Bless The Saints.
