Imagine if you could create the church you wanted, any way you wanted.Put together a worship service exactly the way YOU want: hymns, no hymns, drums, no drums. Are you from Wisconsin, start Polka Mass! Start a building campaign, ask for donations.Be the next Joel Osteen!Pastor a simulated church that and create your own Christian empire Build a church from the ground up, customize your staff, control budgets and more Hire and fire staff and deal with idiots, naive volunteers, and denominational egos Attract fickle unchurched people with Bingo, revival meetings or fasting--it is all up to you! Select a pre-loaded community Xurban or suburban church plant (for those who want it easy) Inner-city, multi-ethnic 80 year old church with 50 members and $1 million mortgage debt (for those who really want a challenge) Choose a denomination (Lutheran, Catholic, Baptist, Pentecostal plus many more obscure factions and a brand new emergent plug-in) Take weekly offerings and pass a budget Start your own radio or cable-access show Attend the latest conference to hone your skillsImplement the latest ministry fadReview weekly attendance and giving records Earn points with God by winning souls for Christ With network play enabled, you can steal members from other churches and earn points just like you saved them yourself. The possibilities are endless! To grow your church, work on all the strategic variables,Write a mission statement Choose a logo Get a billboard Hire a professional worship musician Book a rock band Buy plasma television for your PowerPoint presentations Prayer, study and preparation get thrown in there too--and the mysterious will of God! Deal with real-life challenges. Scenarios include,Troublesome board members Elderly, donor who wants to buy a new organ Your son starts using drugs Your trusted deacon sleeps with your secretary The city starts a construction project in front of your building Offering stolen Oh, the variations and the possibilities. Denominations and Bible colleges use it to prepare potential church planters or associate pastors just like flight simulators train pilots. It is better than an internship!Do it all without a degree, license or even the Bible! Just like Joel Osteen. Wow. I'm speechless. Can they use Joel Osteen's name unless he supports it?
http://www.e-church.com/Blog.asp?EntryID=51729Here is where that review came from. If you scroll down the bottom of the page there is comments people have made about it.This stirs me up. I don't know whether to protest this mockery or weep my eyes out.
Hello...Actually, I believe that this is an actual joke by ultra-liberals that love to mock Christianity. It is NOT a real product. If you look at the link, you will notice that it is from an individual's blog at e-church:http://www.e-church.com/Blog.asp?EntryID=51729If you click on it, it takes you to:http://echurch.cf.huffingtonpost.com/The Huffington Post is a far-left liberal news blog hosted by ultra-liberal Ariana Huffington. The page *looks like* a page from Amazon.com. Notice that the links to the left and right are not properly working links. And, if you look at the American Standard Indentification Number (ASIN) located on the page, it states that the number is: B000B659FEIf you go to the REAL Amazon.com homepage, and you type in that number, it takes you to this page:http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000B659FE/ref=sr_11_1/104-4039287-5601534?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glanceThis "advertisement" appears to actually be yet another attempt by far-left liberals meant to mock Christians by mocking the concept of a "mega-church." While I also do not like the concept of "mega-churches" -- the far-left loves to group all Christians together. It is extremely sad. What's worse is that some people might actually believe the fake-advertisement. This is a great example of how believers need to "test everything" (I Thessalonians 5:21). :-( EDITIf you really read the "product description" -- it really is someone's sick joke. While some of it is just accurate satire of the modern "mega-Church" movement, it is still a blatant example of a hateful, mocking heart. And they obviously do not like Joel Osteen very much.
friends, the name of God is blasphemed among the unbeliever because of the self-proclaimed churches. judgment begins in the house of God. we would do well in this generation to bear the heart of God for the reproach we are seeing in His assemblies. May God have mercy on many of these men who oversee the megachurches. God weeps for what is taking place, and we entertain the mockery that takes place. We must pray for mercy.
We do need to be cautious about what we see over the internet... I figured out this was a joke pretty quick, but some folks may not and make fools of themselves in the process of trying to condemn something like this. Always check sources before getting too freaked out by something.Personally I got a chuckle out of it once I realized it was a joke, but I do admit to getting a little hot at the beginning. Who wouldnt?By the way, I'm a little surprised that a product like that hasnt shown up on the shelves of some nationally known Christian bookstore. Why not? There's so much Jesus junk out there, something like this wouldnt surprise me.Krispy
Joke or not, its still grieving and stirs me up.
I got tricked too. I totally thought it was real. It is ashamed that things have gotten so bad we would even believe such a thing. But I would have to agree with Preacher when he says -Joke or not, its still grieving and stirs me up.
From a computing side I know this game would actually sell if coded. I am amazed at how much truth is actually in this small article. I didnt really have much to say more flabergasted at how true the article was. I am not really shocked because I knew it would be a matter of time something like this would be created even thou it is not. I do not know really what to say Dom
Hi everyone. Wow...quite a few things came to mind as I read about this.At first I think I reacted as someone already mentioned, how the name of our God is constantly being blasphemed. And I think I initially was asking the question, how much are we to blame for that? I say we, generally, of believers as a whole. And then I think of Paul's words in 1Cor 4:13.And then, I think of the horror that the Last Day shall reveal.Anyone ever known someone who quietly took insults over a long period of time and then one day...there was nothing that could restrain their fury? I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once. These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.Selah
When I read it I wondered when a game will be made that will mimic sermon preparation?!! I agree with another poster who suggested it will be only a matter of time when a game like that will be marketed. Then there will people who will be stupid enough to buy it and tell you how wonderful it is who call you intolorant for saying anything negative about it!ginnyrose
